While in Missoula the opportunity came up to apply to work at Q2, the station that I’ve always known and loved here in Billings, so I had to jump on it. I knew from very early on that I wanted to work in journalism after growing up around it. That would be my dad who has worked at the station for longer than I’ve been alive! I’ve been in and around Q2 for as long as I can remember, always being fascinated by the behind-the-scenes work that goes into the shows and the talented people in front of the cameras. You may notice there’s another Monaco name on the Q2 News Staff page. The move seemed far away and scary after living in Billings my entire life, but it ended up being a great decision.ĭuring my four years at UM getting a degree in Broadcast Journalism, I fell more in love with reporting and storytelling than I ever could have imagined. In 2017 I made the move to Missoula to attend the University of Montana’s School of Journalism. In addition to writing sci-fi and fantasy novels, music has now become a huge part of her life and with time and the right exposure, her music career will ascend to new heights.I was born and raised in Billings, MT. So far, “Water” is her favorite completed orchestral work, which features flute. In up coming years, she plans on releasing an album of original solos recorded on her own flute. Hailey usually looks to nature for inspiration for composing most of her pieces. She is constantly working back and forth between multiple pieces depending on whichever piece of music comes to her. As a teen, she aspires to become the most successful female modern classical composer for her young age. As she progressed, she began writing her music down, beginning with compositions of full orchestra, and expanding to various different groups and instrumental solos. “I used to think it was something everyone had from time to time,” says Hailey. Before she could recognize it as a talent or as something she wanted to pursue, Hailey just thought of her music as a “normal” everyday occurrence. Music began flowing through Hailey Monacko at a very young age.
